The one thing in life that can never be taken away from you is your education. You can lose your money, your home, your job, and even your family. You can never lose the things you learn.
Education is not just what you learn in school, not by a long shot. Unfortunately, many people make the mistake of “finishing” their education when they graduate. And education is not just learning facts. Education is learning how to learn on a continuing basis. Learning which is caught and not taught.
Every Monday, I usually call my parents and we chat endlessly for long time. My father would talk about his childhood experiences. This monday, he shared few of his learnings. what didn't surprise me was that what he implemented in his life, I recently read in books on success, leadership, positive mental attitude, many spiritual book. I felt proud that despite he not having access to books like these in his early years, he still implemented these principles in his life and succeeded in many facets if life from profession, to relationships to finances.
I would like to live by these principles and want to let Raina know that her grandparents implemented them and so did her parents. They are principles. True anywhere in the world just like gravity. Here is the list I recall....
1) Sarv Jeev Sampann/Abundance mentality
2) There is no shortcut to hard work
3) Balance is important for peace of mind.
4) No gain without pain. Decide what you want to sacrifice to gain something, you will be focused and not guilty all the time.
5) Law of sowing and reaping- What you sow, so shall you reap. You reap more than what you sow. You sow here, you reap elsewhere. Time, love and effort is required to help the seed to grow into a plant. All this applicable to work, relationships, finances..etc/
6) Principles of finances:
-Learn to earn money
-Live on less than you Earn. Control expenditure
-Pay yourself first before spending. Save minimum 10% of your earnings.Learn to make the savings work for you and multiply money and that money multiply more money and create a stable income for future children.
-Guard your savings from loss. Invest in place where your principle amount is safe and can return to you and where you get good rental for your amount.
-Own you own home.
- increase your ability to earn more. diversify your income sources.
- donate 10% of your earning to lesser privileged children. They will be around in the world when your child grows up to create a healthy educated principled society.
7) When you pray to God, you are talking to him and when you meditate, you listen to God, he is talking back to you. Do both. Count your blessing everyday in morning first things and night before sleeping, what are the good things that happened to you. Power of spoken words - Talk future in present and it shall happen to you.
8) Write your dreams with a date, It becomes a goal. Stick it around the house and it will get inside your subconscious mind. Then that subconscious mind will go out and attract like forces, people, situation to make your dream into reality. Most of the people decide using conscious mind and that decision fails. When someone decides using subconscious mind, you are powerful beyond measure. That window of opportunity to let your dream enter the subconscious mind requires meditation, requires you to see your dream pasted, talk yourself acquiring the dream. Impossible can become possible
9) Connect with a mentor who can watch your blindspots. Who has travelled the same path. Who understand your strength and weakness and can bring you back on track wherever required.
10) Communication can solved 99.9% of any problem. Speak and clear things.
I may be missing a few things from my conversation with my parents as it was a long talk with stories weaved in it. But I am excited to implement them in life and get it rolling!
Happy thinking, Ruch!
Love,
Mon
